GETTING TO KNOW FASHION MODEL LAUREN MATLO
How did you get started in the fashion industry?
Lauren: As for how I got started in modeling, I’ve always had fun taking photos with friends and modeling informally for a few local stores and online brands. It was in the fall of 2020 that I decided to officially go for it and sign with a local modeling agency. A few weeks later my agency sent me to Columbia, South America where I lived for just over a month where I did photoshoots with a bunch of amazing photographers, walked in my first swimwear fashion show, met some incredible people and haven’t looked back since.
What are some of your favorite types of projects to work on?
Lauren: Some of my favorite projects to work on are unique photoshoots that have a wide scope for creativity with venues, makeup, hair and outfits that give a visual story. I also really enjoy making videos for Instagram reels and Tiktok ( @laurenmatlo on both platforms)
What is your favorite brand? What do you like most about them?
Lauren: I have a few favorite brands. Princess Polly has been a go to brand for me for a few years. I’ve worked in collaboration with them and they have a very friendly and helpful customer service team which I appreciate. Revolve has some amazing pieces and their brand trips are such a unique way to help catch my eye in terms of showcasing their clothing. I adore Chanel and have for many years. Their pieces are timeless and classic; chefs kiss!
What advice do you have for people looking to get more out of social media?
Lauren: Advice I would give to somebody looking to get more out of social media as a creator is to be patient. It takes time and consistency to establish yourself on any given platform and more than anything stay authentic to yourself and have fun!
