GETTING TO KNOW RECORDING ARTIST AND RISING STAR KATJA GLIESON
How did you get started in the music industry?
Katja: I have been working as a singer forever. I’m originally from Melbourne Australia. I started in music theatre, performed in few live touring bands, then began writing and recording my own music. I left Australia and came to LA to keep pursuing a career in music and the performing arts.
What do you like most about it?
Katja: Music is a universal language. I use music to self soothe, to help process my emotions, to motivate me to workout. I could literally live inside music forever.
Which of your songs is most meaningful to you?
Katja: My most recent Jazz ballad Starseed is the most profound writing experience I have ever had. It came from a place of accepting despair and hopelessness, which transcends to freedom. I am so proud of it winning the Los Angeles Film Awards for best song and its music video premiered at the LA Shorts International Film Festival
Do you have a music video for that song online?
Katja: The music video titled “Diamonds" is an adaptation of an alleged confession of how Marilyn Monroe truly passed away. The jazz ballad “Starseed” is a haunting Hollywood soundtrack to the tragic story.

What advice do you have for upcoming artists?
Katja: The best advice I can give to other aspiring artists out there is: don’t hold your breath for anyone. Meaning take responsibility for your career. If you want to make art, make art to the best of your ability with the resources available to you. Grow from there. This is a continuous journey. Pace yourself.
