GETTING TO KNOW ACTOR AND FASHION MODEL AMY BYRD

How did you get started in the acting industry?

Amy: I got started in the acting industry as an assistant for a talent agency. I was there for about a year and a half and it opened my eyes to the acting world. I fell in love with the work that many artists put in to get to where they want to be. It was a challenging industry to get into at first but I like challenges so I was like, yup, this is definitely it and I never get bored with it. I have also had a great manager from the very beginning as well as a great acting studio who have become my family and I’ve met some people that I will never forget.

As for modeling, when I was in High School, I had people reach out to me to model with their brands, cars, and more which I was a little hesitant about but then I did my first photoshoot and fell in love with the pictures. I continued to expand my portfolio which led me to walking my first fashion show as well as working with different brands while meeting some incredible people. From then on I continued to build my resume and that eventually led me to sign with my first local modeling agency in Atlanta, GA and soon after I moved to LA.

What are some of your favorite types of projects to work on?

Amy: I loved working on Tyler Perry’s set in Atlanta, GA because he’s one, hilarious, two, he’s very fast paced so we don’t waste much time on set and everything is very organized. As for modeling, I love working with different fashion brands and beauty brands. I have been working on my own cosmetics line for quite some time so I have a lot of interest in the makeup industry overall.

What is your favorite brand? What do you like most about them?

Amy: I love Dior. I think they’re branded very well where most of their items stand out but are still classy at the same time. I also love purses and they have some very cute ones!

What advice do you have for people looking to get more out of social media?

Amy: Be yourself and be consistent. I still have a hard time being super consistent on social media because of work and everything that pops up in daily life but that definitely one of the things I’m working on. Also, not everyone is going to like you or what you post but it’s your world and your brand so it’s important to stay true to yourself.
